Corporate Chic: Black, White, and Gold

Aaaand I'm back!

Things have been getting pretty busy at work and I haven't had much chance to shoot what I wear to the office. If you knew me any better, you'd probably know that black is pretty much my go-to color. Open my closet and you'll be in for a no-brainer. 

I find that black clothing helps me get through down days, it never fails to add that extra sophistication and attitude to my outfit. Some say black represents sorrow, I say it brings out the fierceness in me, especially when I'm stressed out. Plus, it doesn't hurt that a black ensemble can take you from day to night, from casual to dressy. You can style it anyway you can!

For this look, I experimented with gold accessories, just to give the seemingly blah color palette a little dash of glitz. 

Believe it or not, the top is from ukay (I call them treasure troves!) and the houndstooth print leggings are from Divisoria, which I got for only PHP 100! I topped off the look with my trusty slingback stilettos which I also got on sale for less than PHP 600 a while back.

Who says you have to wear off-the-rack or designer to look and feel fabulous? It's all in the head, ladies and gentlemen. The price tag doesn't have to get in the way of your creativity and flexibility in fashion choices.

I would have taken the safe route and go with either red or silver accessories, but since I was going for a more luxe feel, I figured, why not throw on some gold accessories instead? You only live once, right?

My work friends and I were really amused with this promotional display outside our building so we took turns having photo ops with our new BFF!

After our small photo walk, I met up with my college friend, Diane, at Nolita to catch up. Guys, I'm telling you, if you want good pizza, Nolita is a must-visit restaurant in Bonifacio High Street. I always have their fresh tomato and garlic pizza. Partnered with a bottle of Estrella Galicia, and you have the perfect menu for a great dinner!

Altered Perspective

It's almost 11 PM and I'm still in the office. Yup, up until my very last day at work I am still grinding my gears hard to finish my deliverables (at least most of them anyway). I'm looking forward to getting that fresh start, yet a part of me is frightened. I have no idea what to expect and ironically, that's all part of the excitement.

Anyway, I went to this fashion show event by the graduating Fashion Students from DLS-CSB (it took place at the Rockwell Tent and was entitled Altered Perspective). I went with two of my work friends, Rae and Aldrin. We had dinner at Banana Leaf and drinks afterwards with Mark at Draft. Too bad I was feeling out of sorts and my flu was well on its way, we had to part ways early.

I'm not usually very edgy and when I got invites to see this show, I was so afraid I'd have nothing to wear, and with very little time to squeeze in any shopping at all, I knew I just had to close my eyes, draw from my closet, and hope for the best. I can't drown in a sea of people and personalities from the media and the fashion world. My neon numbers just won't cut it. My strategy: go basic and simple, aim for sophistication and throw in a little spunk into the mix.

Good thing I had this new leatherette skirt (with the tag on still!) and deep navy blue ever-reliable top from Forever 21 and unused booties from Forever 21. My bag was also new, a beautiful blue bag from Tory Burch. You can never go wrong with going basic, sticking with a deep palette and a punch of gold to further accentuate and complement my next big accessory - the bag. Hope it worked! :)

Weekend Warriors: Easter Egg Yellow

Happy Easter, everybody! How was your Lenten season? I hope it was meaningful. Mine was quite disappointing. I was sick all week and I had to spend a lot of time in bed, recovering. Even until this very day, I'm still not feeling well at all. :(

Anyway, I'm sure we're all looking forward to Jesus' second coming, or as we know it, Easter Sunday. It's a day that promises new beginnings and fresh starts. Beyond the Easter Egg hunting and being allowed to eat meat after a week of abstinence and fasting, it is a moment of rejoice and welcome.

Much like any other, our family went to hear Easter Sunday Mass. By default, we went to Tagaytay. Then, breakfast followed at our favorite place, Mile-Hi Diner.

Inspired by the gleeful mode of the day, I took this baby out for a spin once again.See how I wore it the first time HERE. Despite the sickness, I have to push myself aside and celebrate our Savior's resurrection, right? After all, He gave His life for us. What's not to be grateful for?

The color yellow is often associated with happiness. If our current state of mind is any reflection of what we wear, then here's mine:

I'm head over heels for these flats! They're so cute and comfy! Talk about cheery disposition! Best of all, I got two (different) pairs for less than Php 400! I'll feature the other ones in another outfit post soon. :)

Plain, unadulterated bliss.

If there are any other imminent culprit to my sudden twist of mood, it's the fact that I got to rest peacefully at home and be surrounded with the people that I love. Nothing else can ever recharge me from so many months of stress. Haha!

Corporate Chic: Brilliant Blue

Hey, guys! How's your week going so far?

I write this entry live from Baguio. The weather up here is chilly, just the way I like it. I'm actually here for work, but hey, how bad can traveling for work be?

This outfit was worn about a few weeks back. Late, I know. There are about 3 more posts waiting to be written about, so let's get to it.

Lately, Manila has been experiencing a pretty cool, breezy weather. Don't you just love it? I know I do! It's time for our knit sweaters to shine, and shine, mine did!

In case you're wondering, the Corporate Chic segment is a new introduction in this blog. This will feature what I wear to work. Expect to see more office outfit posts soon!

Whenever we get strained and drained at the office, my friends from work and I take little strolls to clear our heads. More often than not, we end up taking outfit shots in various places near our building.

Striking Gold

Have you ever had a less-than-stellar couple of days and no matter what you do, you just can't seem to pull yourself up from that slump? I do. How do I deal with it? I wear something colorful or something sparkly.

Glitter is just too hard to resist, even past the holidays, because, well, it keeps me happy despite all the stress that's been clouding my luster lately. I need a pick-me-upper and sometimes dressing up really helps.

On this particular day, things have been anything but super. I've had this top for a couple of weeks now, but I haven't found the right moment to let it take center stage. Oh, and I forgot to mention that this top is ukay. Yup! I salvaged it from racks upon racks of seemingly forgotten vintage clothing. Don't worry, I wash my ukay clothes thoroughly and disinfect them. I suggest you do too! The skirt is from my forever favorite, Forever 21. Stick with me and you'll figure this out about me: I like mixing things up. For one, ukay and boutique brands. It's all in your head. You don't need to be decked out in label from head to toe, you just have to strut down the street like your path is ablaze. Own it, honey! 

I was wearing a necklace at one point, but I decided to take it off in the middle of the day. 

I just realized that this is my first "attempt-at-looking-corporate" shot for 2013... or wait, EVER! Really hope I can keep capturing regular outfit shots and ideas, and hopefully even squeeze in more reviews for who else, but for you guys! ;)

I totally agree.

Filipinos love to share what's on their mind, and with the onset of social networking and the new media age, we can't help but delight in the availability of venues for self-expression.

I've been blogging on and off for quite a while. For one, this is not my first and only blog, I've had many other sites that I put up since I was in high school, but none of them seemed to have withstood the test of time and of course, my short attention span.

It's quite nice to know that the blogging community here in the Philippines is growing exponentially. Thanks to Nuffnang, bloggers were treated to an entire day of learning, fun, and more (social) networking. Ladies and gents, welcome to Nuffnang Blogopolis: ONLIne in the Philippines! It's one of those glorious moments where you see, meet, and get to learn from your favorite online personalities. 

The speakers and panelists walked us through what blogging in the Philippines really takes, to where the future of blogging is headed. It was such a fun-filled series of lectures (it seriously felt like a normal hangout with your best friends, only you get to educate yourself about your craft).

It's been forever since I last took an outfit shot, and I simply can't miss out on this opportunity to do just that! If you know me, you're probably going to notice that I rarely wear black during events. I'm afraid I'd blend in way too much. Youth is such a perfect excuse for wearing loud colors and playful prints. I decided to go all out with colorful hues with this particular ensemble for an outfit that screams "She Goes Thrifty!"

After the event, we dined at My Thai in Greenbelt (with my family).
